Google Workspace New Prebuilt Administrator Roles


Google Workspace is the business version of the applications. The Google Workspace applications are controlled by an administrator. The admin roles present in the Google Workspace are Super Admin, Groups Admin, User Management Admin, Help Desk Admin, Services Admin, Mobile Admin, Storage Admin, Google Voice Admin, Reseller Admin, and indirect reseller Admin.


Super Admin


Google Workspace includes the admin console. The workspace has prebuilt admin roles. Super Admin has all the features in the admin console. He can manage every aspect of the organization’s account. Groups admin


The Groups admin has full control over the Google groups in your admin console. He can also have the privilege to add a security label to a group. Admin can perform the tasks in the Admin console or Admin API. The group’s admin can give admin privileges to users. The admin privileges given to the users are Group Reader and Group Editor. Group admins can perform the following tasks from the Admin console or in Admin API.

  • Delete groups from the Admin console.
  • View organizational units.


User Management admin 

The user management admin performs all the actions on users who are not admins. When assigning a user management admin role, you can limit the privileges to specific organizational units.

  • View user profiles and your organizational structure.
  • View organizational units.
  • Create and delete user accounts.
  • Rename users and change passwords.
  • Manage user security settings.
  • Perform these other user management tasks.


What are the things the User Management admin is not able to do?


  • The admin cannot assign admin privileges
  • The user management admin cannot reset the administrator
  • Cannot make changes to the admin account



Services Admin


The services admin manages some service settings and devices in the Admin console. The services offered by the services admin are they can turn the services on or off, changing the service settings and permissions, Creating, editing, and deleting calendar resources, managing Chrome and mobile devices listed in the Admin console, managing the settings for Google Takeout, use the alert center with full access.


The service admin can’t do the following things like

  • Modify the sharing settings of calendar resources
  • Edit the calendar events in your domain
  • Some products and services like Google Vault and Google Cloud print can’t be managed.



 Storage Admin


The storage admin can use the storage page in the admin console. The storage admin can view their organization’s storage use and view the users and shared drives that use the most storage. He can set the storage limits, open the accounts report, directory of users, and list of shared drives. Storage admin gives full access to reports and drive settings.
