Gmail New Features: Google has officially announced the brand new material design interface that\u2019s coming to New Gmail & its business edition G-Suite after images of its redesign leaked a few days prior. The revamp brings with it, besides a much-need paint job, some long-awaited features that users could only get through third-party email clients.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

However, design is not the only thing new in the \u201cnew\u201d Gmail<\/a>; loads of new functionalities have been added to both the web and mobile interface. Some of that starts with AI-based features including Smart Reply<\/strong>, email\u00a0snoozing<\/strong>, and\u00a0nudging<\/strong>\u00a0recipients to respond. Gmail now also includes certain privacy-focused features like a new\u00a0Confidential mode<\/strong>, a revamped\u00a0risk warning<\/strong>, and the ability to\u00a0unsubscribe from newsletters<\/strong>\u00a0with the click of a button.<\/p>\n

Gmail New Features by GMAIL:<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

1. The New Gmail keeps the sensitive data secure.<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

A new\u00a0Confidential Mode<\/strong>\u00a0with\u00a02- 2-Factor authentication<\/strong>\u00a0has been added to the new Gmail. This has been made possible due to\u00a0Information Rights Management (IRM)<\/strong>, which is ,Available while composing an email, with this confidential mode, it\u2019s now possible to protect sensitive content in your emails by creating expiration dates<\/strong>\u00a0or\u00a0revoking previously sent messages<\/strong>. What\u2019s more is that it allows you to\u00a0block the forwarding<\/strong>,\u00a0copying<\/strong>,\u00a0downloading<\/strong>, or\u00a0printing<\/strong>\u00a0of particular messages. The Recipient verification is available in Confidential Mode, which allows for standard or\u00a02-factor SMS passcode verification<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

They have redesigned the\u00a0security warnings<\/strong> within Gmail, which makes it simpler to understand and gives a clear call to action to employees. These warnings are quite\u00a0big and bold<\/strong>\u00a0enough to warn you and help you\u00a0stay protected<\/strong> when it comes to potentially risky emails. 2. Mailing shortcuts are just a hover away.<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

Hovering with your mouse cursor over an email conversation in the new Gmail inbox will\u00a0reveal a row of options<\/strong>\u00a0(right next to the preview) such as\u00a0Archive<\/strong>,\u00a0Delete<\/strong>,\u00a0Mark as Read<\/strong>, and\u00a0Snooze<\/strong>, Although archiving, deleting, etc. were already there but Snooze is the something additional.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

3. Snooze your responses.<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

This is something that we all wanted. A lot of emails get stuffed in our inboxes. So snooze an email<\/strong> in your inbox that can be procrastinated or you cannot get to at the moment. After the time expires<\/strong>, the email will show up back<\/strong> in your inbox. Shortcuts for apps such as Keep<\/strong>,\u00a0Tasks<\/strong>, and\u00a0Google Calendar<\/strong>\u00a0will also be available on the right edge. These features are currently available on\u00a0Inbox by Google<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

4. Native offline mode<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

Gmail on the web is introducing a new native offline support<\/strong>\u00a0to work through your email\u00a0without an internet connection<\/strong>, a lot like the offline mode on Google Docs. Users will have the option to search<\/strong>,\u00a0write<\/strong>,\u00a0reply<\/strong>,\u00a0delete<\/strong>, and archive<\/strong>\u00a0up to the\u00a0last 90 days<\/strong>\u2018 worth of email messages without a connection. This will go live in the coming weeks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

5. Nudge<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

The\u00a0AI-powered \u201cnudge\u201d<\/strong>\u00a0feature of the new\u00a0Gmail\u00a0will\u00a0prompt users to follow up<\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0respond to messages<\/strong> that haven\u2019t been replied to. This would more be a kind of reminder to you. For example, for received emails, Gmail will use text like \u201cReceived X days ago. Reply?\u201d and for sent emails, the mailing client will use text such as \u201cSent X days ago. Follow up?\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

6. Smart Reply<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

Smart Reply<\/strong> is something Gmail mobile and Inbox provide. When you click Reply, Gmail will suggest three different responses<\/strong>\u00a0that you can add to the body of the email with a\u00a0single click<\/strong>. For instance, Gmail will detect when questions have been sent to your inbox and\u00a0will offer responses<\/strong>\u00a0in variations of Yes, No, or Maybe. You can then\u00a0customize or add to the reply<\/strong>. If you\u2019ve used the Gmail app or Inbox by gmail, you know what these look like.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

7. A new right-side panel<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

Now, Google Calendar<\/strong>,\u00a0Keep<\/strong>, and the new Tasks<\/strong> feature won\u2019t require separate Google Chrome tabs, but these icons would be available just to the right of your email list. A slide-out tool will show up so you can stay within your inbox, managing email or using drag-and-drop<\/strong>\u00a0to add emails to Tasks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

8. Assistive unsubscribe<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

We get newsletters from everywhere, even when we didn\u2019t sign up for and these are incredibly annoying. The new Assistive Unsubscribe<\/strong> tool will learn which emails you interact with and then proactively suggest which you should unsubscribe from.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

To enable the new Gmail, head to your inbox, click the gear icon, and select \u201cTry the new Gmail.<\/strong>\u201d Google is reportedly rolling out the redesign today in \u201cwaves,\u201d so don\u2019t freak out if you don\u2019t see the option just yet.
